There are so many great places to fish in the Carolinas. Here are a few good recommendations. The Davidson River in North Carolina is a great destination for trout fishermen. There is also a hatchery-part of this river that is a stocked.
Across North Carolina, there are some lakes named Lake Higgins, Lake Brandt and Lake Townsend. These lakes have excellent bass fishing. The bass are very large in these three lakes. The lakes get stocked frequently with threadfin shad to keep the bass well fed. Lake Townsend gets stocked with large gizzard shad.
Many fisherman find great fishing for mackerel along Nearshore, North Carolina. They can be found along the beaches during September. Nearshore reefs and ledges are a great place to fish.
All the major streams on the North Carolina side of the Smokies have amazing trout fishing. Deep Creek, which is near Newfound Gap, is known for its wild brown trout. The best fishing waters are only accessible by hiking in for several miles.
In South Carolina you can catch crappie at Barnwell State Park and Lake Warren State Park. You can also try Table Rock, Keowee-Toxaway, and Devils Fork and fish for trout. All of these parks have some very large trout.
